* 1/10/2012 - Two things were addressed at our quarterly training held on 1/9/2012.
1: Oran Friend reported a profit of $570 from running the concession stand last September for the Senior Olympics. Oran also brought up two things:
   A: Do we commit to running the concession stand this September? The Senior Olympics Committee needs to know our decision soon.
   B: Oran cannot spearhead the fundraising effort this year as he did in years past. If we decide to continue our fundraising efforts this year, someone else will need to be in charge.
2: Nominations. Nominations will now be accepted for the following officers:
   - Assistant Chief (Deborah Adelman) - will run again for 2012-2014
   - Equipment Chief (Bob Kerrn) - will run again for 2012-2014
   - Training Chief (Dale Simpson) - office is presently open for nominations.
No nominations for any office up for election were made at the meeting.

* 12/21/2010 - CERT is now using Alerts Made Easy to contact members. A computer generated female voice delivers the message. Please create a contact in your address book with the name CERT CERT CERT and the number (217) 789-2259 to identify the call as coming from CERT. The number is a secondary line for the Fire Safety Division. There is no need to call this number as the people there will usually have no further information about the call out.

* MEETING/TRAINING INFORMATION *
* The location of all meetings and training activities for CERT are located at the Children's Safety Village unless otherwise specified. The Children's Safety village is located off of 11th St., west of UIS situated between the soccer and softball fields on the west side of the street. Actual address is 4521 S. 11th St., however "JOHN'S TRAIL" should be used as an address when using a GPS or mapping software.

* Beginning January 3, 2011, Springfield CERT will be meeting on a quarterly training schedule. Instead of the 2nd Monday of every 3rd month, training will be on rotating Mondays from 6:30-9:30pm. Officer meetings are held on an 'as needed' basis and meeting notices will be posted here pursuant to bylaws.

Because the first Monday of January observes the New Year's Day holiday and there are 5 Mondays in October, the 2012 training schedule will be as follows:

* 1/9/2012 - Pet & Animal Emergency First Aid presented by Bill Hurt. Nominations for officers up for election (Assistant Chief, Training Chief, Equipment Chief)

* 4/16/2012 - Officer Elections (Assistant Chief, Training Chief, Equipment Chief), scribe training to follow elections

* 7/23/2012 - Training topic TBD*

* 10/29/2012 - Training topic TBD*
* Training topics for 2012 July and October training will be determined by newly elected Training Chief.
